The day we met

Jazzmine’s perspective

It was a beautiful, sun shining day the day that Sola and I met. I was busy at work and suddenly came across a facebook message from someone in our industry that I had never met, “Sola Okunoren”. The message was rather lengthy, but nonetheless I took my time and read through it. He mentioned that he was looking for new industry partners to partner with in the San Antonio area. Excited for a new business partner and opportunity to meet someone new, I responded to his message right away and that I would love an opportunity for us to meet over lunch. We exchanged a few messages for the next couple of days and then chose a date and time to meet for lunch. On the day of our lunch meeting I was running a little behind, as usual. Stumbling into the restaurant, the hostess already knew my name when I nearly fell through the large double doors. “Jazzmine?” She asked. “Your other guest is already here waiting for you”. Hands already super sweaty, she led me to a table in the midde of the restaurant. Sola stood up and gave me the most amazing hug, and on top of that he was SO handsome and he smelled INCREDIBLE. 6 hours later we sat at the same table, smitten. Our business conversation went from real estate, to family, to our childhoods, to favorite foods and our most favorite places in the world to travel. Then and there I was in love at first sight.

The day we met

Sola’s perspective

So one day in real estate I sent a generic message to everyone in the industry. I was having a grand opening for my new community and wanted it to be bigger than ever, and for that I wanted to meet as many people in the real estate industry as I could. I sent the same message to everyone in San Antonio (he he he) and Jazzmine replied looking to truly help me out. That’s just the kind of person that she is and has always been. We didn’t speak much that week as I was out of the country, of course SMH When I returned we spoke via Facebook message and decided to meet up for lunch to plan my real estate takeover, little did I know that she would take over my heart. See Jazzmine and I started off the way true long lasting relationships should always start....Friendship.I never got fresh with her and she never flirted either. We just talked and talked and talked (we both talk too much LOL) Then we met for lunch and talked some more. Truly all about life and who we are. Our business meeting became a lifetime friends meeting. I think I actually told her we would be lifetime friends, and here we are Lifetime lovers about to get married. That one meeting solidified that I had found my person; even though I didn’t know she would one day become my wife.

The proposal

6/25/2020

Our proposal story is one of our most favorite stories. Due to Covid many of our travel plans changed, so instead of traveling internationally we had to start exploring more of the US. Like many of our travel plans, we changed our destination last minute from Anguilla and decided to travel to the Florida Keys. We would start off in Miami and then drive down to Key Largo. Our travel day started very early in the morning as our flight departed at 6:00am. We were up at 3:00am and out the door at 4:00am. We made it to the airport, checked in, made it through TSA and made our way to our gate. I can always tell when something is wrong with Sola because he’s quiet, he is never quiet. From the time we woke up and even drove to the airport he was SO quiet. As we sat at the gate Sola looked at me, grabbed my hand and asked “do you promise that we’ll love each other like this forever”? Very confused, I of course answered yes and he just said “ok”. Then he said “I need to use the restroom ill be right back.” I looked at him walking back and he just seemed so nervous but I had no idea what was wrong, not to mention it was 5:00 in the morning. When he sat back down he grabbed my hand, got down on one knee and asked “Jazzmine, will you marry me”? Literally in front of everyone at the airport. Shocked, surprised, excited and at a complete loss for words I asked him “are you serious”? “I thought we were waiting until September” LOL after all of my questions he said Jazz, you haven’t said yes yet. “Of course I will marry you”, I said with tears streaming down my face. It was perfect! He proposed at one of our most favorite places in the world that has given us so many of our beautiful adventures together.
