Rich and I met during COVID in July of 2020 on Facebook. We talked for a couple of weeks before he asked me to meet. Silly me, I decided to meet with him at 5:00am before we both had to work, because I was running at 4:30am at that time. I was wearing dark baggy clothes and kept my hood over my head. Apparently, Rich felt like he was catfished, and thankful I wasn’t kidnapped.

On July 3rd, 2024, I got home from work, and Rich asked me what I wanted to do for the evening. I was sick the week prior and figured we could do something fun with Lily, and didn’t want to just sit at a restaurant. I told Rich that we could go and play laser tag. Rich didn’t seem to like the idea, so I told him to decide. We went back and forth about what to do and he didn’t make a decision until an hour later. Rich decided on Upstairs at Pier 38. I was not very fond of the idea, because I did not want to spend that kind of money that day. Reluctantly, I got dressed, but I did not dress to impress in such late notice. Rich wanted to take a picture and unwilling, I said, “Okay”. We had Lily hold the camera (apparently, he had planned it with her prior). He told me to turn as if we were taking a prom picture. Although the entire evening was a little strange, I did it anyway. After quite some time standing trying to take a prom picture, he asked me to turn around. As I turned around, I noticed that he was on one knee and asked me to marry him. Without any hesitation, I said yes. Lily tried her best to get it on camera, but it most of it was missed.
