How We Met ?

Rosebar - May 27th, 2017

HIS POV: It was Memorial Day weekend. One of my college teammates, Jamaal, was in town, and we were celebrating my recent achievement of getting my master's degree and just having my first NBA workout with the Celtics. We had already agreed that he would act as my agent for the night. We decided to go to Rosebar, just looking to have a good time. Once inside, we quickly realized that we needed a section to really have fun, but we decided against it (my cheap ass). Instead, we decided to make the best of it by dancing and enjoying ourselves. I looked over and saw a beautiful young woman with a caramel complexion, blonde hair, and bright BLUE lipstick. I instantly knew I needed to meet her. So I told Jamaal, “Bro, go over there and tell her I need her, please.” Two minutes later, he came back and said she told him that if I wanted her, I should go over and talk to her myself. So I went over and, in my drunken state, asked her to guess what I did for a living (yes, I know, corny). She said she didn't know, and I told her I was a professional hockey player. She believed me, but then I told her I was joking. Little did I know, from that point on, I would talk to her every day for the next eight years, and fall in love with her. HER POV: It's Memorial Day weekend, and my friend Kamaya and I had just left an all-white party to head over to Rosebar to celebrate another friend's birthday. Kamaya and I were dancing and talking when this guy walked up to me. He pointed to his friend across the bar and said, "My boy's trying to talk to you." I looked over at Justin, who was leaning on the bar trying to act cool (we know he's not), and then back at his friend and said, "If he wants to talk to me, he needs to come over here and talk to me himself." Justin then came over, introduced himself, and the first thing he asked me was, "What do you think I do for a living?" Without paying attention to his height at all, I said that I didn't know. He told me he was a professional hockey player. I didn't believe him but played along anyway. We exchanged numbers that night, but I didn't really plan on texting him. A few days later, I was bored at home and thought, "Hmm, let me text that guy from Rosebar," and the rest is history. That first conversation via text is when I knew that Justin was going to be my man. Still to this day, Justin has a hockey stick emoji next to his name.
