Before we started dating, while we were still getting to know one another, we were praying for God to confirm that being in a relationship was His will for us. I remember one night while I was praying I told God “God if this is not Your will don’t let me get attached to her. I don’t want to do anything just because I desire it, if it is not pleasing to You.” God responded by telling me that the flower He has entrusted me with was delicate and that I need to treat it with care and protect it. I quickly shared it with her, obviously very happy about it. Some time passed, and someone we knew left a comment on a picture posted of the both of us. The comment read “Treat her like the beautiful blossom flower that God has entrusted you with.” We both instantly remembered the word God gave me that night. This is one of the many ways we have come to know that we aren’t only together because we decided to be, but it is because God has a purpose and a plan for our relationship.
It was a Sunday afternoon, and there was a scheduled social activity for the youth of our local church, and as time progressed, a guessing game was introduced. The object of the game was to guess the item that's placed in your hands, all the while you are blindfolded and wearing noise cancelling headphones. Everyone that was there had their name written down on a piece of paper and placed inside a bag, that's how they selected who would go each turn. Now in the second round of the game, my name was called. I went up to the main table, was blindfolded, and as I placed on the headphones, 'Oceans' by Hillsong started to play. I couldn’t hear anything, except for the music and some muffled noise of people talking, but then I quickly felt a small box placed in my hands. I opened it, closed it, opened it again... I was oblivious to what was happening (which caused everyone to laugh). Then I felt a ring inside, but, it wasn’t until I felt the pear shape that I realized what was happening. I threw my hands over my face, and I felt someone take off my headphones. As I pulled my blindfold off, that's when I saw him, the love of my life kneeling on one knee! He asked, I shook my head quickly and said YES. Turned out to find, that all of the names that were written in the bag were mine.
