How We Met

It went down in the DMs lol

Once upon a time, two unsuspecting humans swiped, clicked, and messaged their way into each other’s lives. Yes, folks… online dating. They looked at each other’s profiles and Cookie instantly thought: “Oh wow, she looks like she is going to church" and clicked off Jaz's profile but Jaz sent a message to her 2 mins later and Cookie accepted. A month of talking and they friend zoned each other but they continued talking, laughing, and sending memes and somewhere in between all the “we’re just friends” disclaimers shifted. The reps came off. No more “I'm just going with the flow," No more “I love hiking” lies. Just real, deep conversations. The kind where your soul shows up in sweatpants and no makeup. Now, legend has it that Cookie canceled their very first date. Scandalous? Yes, but for good reasons. Their first date was at Pappadeaux and Jaz was already seated at the table, Cookie walked up and said "I'm going to need you to stand up to make sure you got legs." Jaz smiled and said "oh yes, for sure" not realizing she was joking and stood up to prove her legs worked. So, the friend zone was breached, romance bloomed, and date nights were every weekend. Over the years, they grew. Sometimes together. Sometimes apart. Because that's life—and honestly, any couple who can survive eight years without giving up on each other is basically already married. Now here they are nearly a decade later: Wiser. Older. Closer to God. Stronger for the seasons they’ve endured. Grateful for the love that stayed—even when it didn’t always feel easy. "Here’s to Cookie & Jaz—proof that even in a world of ghosting, bad bios, and canceled first dates…real love still finds a way.
