We first met each other back in the summer of 2019, *looks*, AT WORK lol. Definitely unexpected! We were both volunteering for local minority students, teaching them about STEM. I first approached Jaynell at a table to help set up activity bags for the students and asked if she needed any help. Jay looked up with the straightest face, "No, I'm fine" in that Maryland accent lol. As the day went on, I got to know her a little more and found out that she was an intern like me. The next time I saw Jaynell was at Zoo Brew, an event at the zoo that allowed you to walk around and drink. I caught up with her and her co-workers there, and we had a great time playing large-sized Jenga and sharing laughs. From that moment on, we stayed attached throughout the summer and even had our first unofficial outing at a local Mexican restaurant. When we returned to school in the fall, I didn’t think I would see her again until I rejoined the company. While searching through contact cards, I found her name and noticed her status on Teams was active. We reconnected, and the rest was history. We began learning more about each other, chatting over social media and on the phone, and eventually meeting up for our very first official date, where we celebrated my birthday with Hibachi and she even brought me a gift, cake and ballons (I knew she was special then lol). I wasn't sure what to expect but from there we kicked off this journey for the last 4 years. We've changed jobs, moved states, been long-distance and short-distance, and traveled domestically and internationally together. We've laughed, we cried, we celebrated, we've sung and danced, and we supported each other through it all. I'm excited at how far we've come and how much more we have ahead of us. Can't wait until our big day and to celebrate with all of you!!
