A Modern Love Story

Like most great love stories in the modern age, theirs began on Hinge in 2024. At first, it was just messages on a screen — but for Jaymi, something felt different right away. Every time Ryan’s name popped up, she felt that giddy, butterflies-in-your-stomach kind of excitement. Of course, life had other plans. In the middle of chatting with Ryan, Jaymi became completely distracted by meeting THE David Harbour (yes… Stranger Things David Harbour), and in her starstruck panic, she totally forgot to reply to Ryan for several days. When reality kicked back in, she was convinced she had blown it. But there was one photo she kept coming back to — Ryan on a tractor, cheesing at the camera. And every time she saw it, a quiet little voice in her head said, “This cheesing goofball is going to change your life somehow.” Turns out, that voice was onto something. On Ryan’s end? Simple. He thought Jaymi was pretty cool and wanted to meet her. A man of few words, but excellent instincts.

The First Date

May 7th, 2024

They met at Nose Hill Park, because Jaymi had one very important priority: meeting Ryan’s dog, Milli. (Ryan was also on the list.) They walked, talked, laughed, got to know each other — and in true rom-com fashion, there was even an alleged attempt to push Jaymi into a small ditch (which Ryan still firmly denies to this day). When it was time to part ways, neither of them was quite ready to end the night. Jaymi offered to drive Ryan home — unaware that his entire friend group was hanging out in the backyard. Surprise introductions ensued. Ryan, hearing his friends’ voices as they pulled up, immediately panicked. He casually asked Jaymi if she wanted to meet the other dogs… while internally spiraling, hoping his friends wouldn’t say anything out of pocket that might scare her off. Instead, Jaymi walked straight into the backyard, met everyone, and fit in like she had always been there. That was the moment everything quietly clicked. Their second date happened two days later, and without much discussion, it felt like home — and Jaymi never really left. Now, two and a half years later, they’re getting married — proof that sometimes the best love stories start with a missed message, a tractor photo, a nervous backyard introduction, and two people who just knew. They can’t wait to celebrate with the people they love most — and to keep writing their story together 🤍
