I had been working at the Bistro since August 2019. Ty started in January 2021, before taking a brief break that summer to work for a landscaping company. Although we had crossed paths many times throughout our high school years—and even worked together during the first half of 2021—we had never really taken the time to get to know one another. In fact, I could probably count on one hand the number of times we actually spoke. That all changed in September 2021, when Ty made his valiant return to the Bistro. From then on, we spent countless hours together in the kitchen. As essentially his boss, I had the honor of bossing him around—and I quite honestly enjoyed it. The group we worked with that year became incredibly close, and after our shifts ended, we continued spending time together outside of work—going out to dinner, listening to music, laughing, and getting into a little trouble in places we probably shouldn’t have been. What started as unintended quality time quickly turned into something more, and our feelings for one another quietly grew. The night before Ty’s 19th birthday, I finally worked up the courage to tell him how I felt, fully prepared for the possibility that he might not feel the same. Little did I know, Ty had been “stirring” with feelings of his own—asking his mom, Julia, and his sisters, Savanna and Brooke, if I liked him… probably 80 times a day (a true story). From there, everything fell perfectly into place. Our shared love for food—especially our carefully crafted charcuterie boards—highlighted our mutual attention to detail and teamwork, turning us into the dynamic duo we are today. Since our first date, it’s hard to think of a single day we haven’t spent together. What began at Anchor Point has grown, year by year, into a love and life we are committed to forever.
