In March of 2020, the world shut down due to the mass spread of the COVID-19 virus. Jayde was 2 months away from finishing her third year of college, and Kyle was 2 months away from graduating from Foundation Institute. We had seen each other at camp before, at other church events over the years and we were friends on social media, but we weren't "friends" and hadn't held a conversation for more than a couple minutes. Kyle had been asking some friends for advice on another situation and his friends suggested he reach out to Jayde. A month into the pandemic, around the conclusion of the spring Holy Days, Jayde received an Instagram DM from Kyle McGowen. She was a little surprised but responded with intrigue. Instagram DMs turned into a Snapchat streak and before she knew it, Kyle was asking Jayde if he could come visit her in Arizona. That's when Jayde knew he liked her. So in the middle of the summer, the absolute worst time to visit Arizona, Kyle got on a plane for the second time in his life and traveled the furthest west he had ever been to visit a girl he had been getting to know for a little over three months. We had so much fun throughout the weekend and about a week later Kyle officially asked Jayde to be his girlfriend, and she happily accepted. We were very blessed to see each other several times over the next year while being in a long distance relationship. Kyle even came down to visit Jayde the weekend she moved to Texas for Foundation Institute. A few weeks after Jayde had moved, Kyle traveled with her and all her family to Hawaii for the Feast of Tabernacles. On Wednesday, September 22, 2021, Kyle had scheduled a 'couple's' photo session. Jayde was suspicious, but Kyle did his best to throw her off and even blamed his mom for wanting pictures of the two of them. But sure enough, about 10 minutes into the photo session Kyle got down on his knee and asked Jayde to marry him. And of course, she said "Yes!" And so the planning began...and here we are!
