His Side of the Story

From a young age, I imagined that meeting the love of my life would be an extraordinarily dramatic event. However, my first encounter with Jayda didn’t mirror my imagination; it exceeded it. It was the fall semester of 2015 when I saw her sitting alone in the student union at Armstrong State University, and I immediately texted my best friends (Derrick & Deuce) in a group message about whether or not I should approach her. Long story short, they told me to go for it. I listened, and I'm glad I did. I got her number that day, and nothing came of it until 6 months later. Fortunately, the word on the street is that we’re getting married almost 4 years from the day we met! It's apparent that she’s gorgeous, but I still believe the most beautiful parts of Jayda aren't even visible yet. Her heart for God and people is golden.

Her Side of the Story

Our story began in October 2015 at Armstrong State University. I recall Kahlil walking into the student union wearing a light green shirt (my least favorite color) as I was walking out to watch a midday campus showcase on the patio. As I was sitting, I could see the green shirt in my peripheral, which stood out to me. Long story short, I went back into the student union after the showcase ended. The handsome, young man that I had passed earlier approached me and politely introduced himself. We had general conversation, shared a few laughs, and concluded by exchanging our contact information. Needless to say, our first meeting did not produce the “love at first sight” story that many people talk about, but it was just the beginning... Our friendship developed over time. Kahlil slowly became my best friend as we shared many common interests such as “The Office,” dry humor, and most importantly, the love of the Lord. At the beginning, I was not fond of the green shirt but I found that the most attractive feature of the man wearing the shirt was his love for the Lord. Simply put, I love Kahlil and I am grateful to God for the man that He has brought into my life, who will soon become my husband.
