As the largest zoo in Arkansas, it’s hard to believe that the Little Rock Zoo started with just two animals: an abandoned wolf and a former circus bear. Some “animal encounters” will even let you get up close and personal with nature’s coolest critters!
You might recognize the Old Mill even if you’ve never been there before. Featured in the opening scene of Gone With the Wind, a Southern classic, it has all of the beauty, charm, and grace of a truly historic destination. Though not an original structure, the Old Mill has been painstakingly replicated to look like an authentic, water-powered grist mill from the 1880s.
At 33 acres, this 11-block-long park acts as Little Rock’s front lawn, providing ample room for strolling along the riverbank and admiring the park’s 100+ works of public art. Concerts are regularly held at the First Security Amphitheater while children's play areas and splash pads dot the landscape.
