During Shravya's fourth year in medical school and Jay's second year of residency, they matched on the app, Coffee Meets Bagel. After several more dates, FaceTime calls, and texts, Shravya received the most exciting news on Match Day -- she matched in Chicago, IL for residency. When she matched, she was worried about the effect of the long distance while starting a new relationship. Of course, Jay had no worries, and prior to leaving for Chicago, asked her to be his girlfriend. As Shravya navigated intern year, Jay and Shravya truly supported each other. In addition to countless nights on FaceTime, Jay and Shravya would often visit each other in Chicago and Atlanta. Jay had thrown in a few surprise trips, once he even showed up to the hospital while she was overnight call! They made the most out of their long distance relationship by traveling every chance they could. Vacations became opportunities to travel the world. During a week in France, Jay proposed to her and completely took Shravya by surprise. In fact, she started to walk away initially because she thought Jay was simply trying to tie his shoe laces.
