Our original plan was to be married and hosting our reception on the same day in August of 2020, in front of our family and friends. Unfortunately, COVID made that impossible. Instead, we opted for a courthouse marriage in August at the Story County Courthouse. For those that live in Iowa, you may remember we were lucky enough to have a derecho (who knew that was a thing before 2020?) the day before the ceremony was to take place. Our judge was stuck at home dealing with damage to his house. After yet more (this time last minute) changes and calls, we managed to get married on August 11th, 2020 at the courthouse in a socially distanced ceremony in which only some family were allowed to attend. Fast forward a little and it was still a little dicey on whether this party would be able to happen at all with the state restrictions and vaccine uncertainties. After a lot of thought and discussion, we decided to go through with the festivities. As a result, this may be a bit different than a typical wedding reception. The bride and groom are married, and will have been for a little over a year by the time the reception finally happens. This will be more of a celebration, not only of our marriage, but of the ability to see family and friends in a larger capacity after a rough year. It's been a long process to get here, but we hope you'll be able to attend, it's sure to be a fun night of celebration!
