Question

What is the best way to travel to Charlottesville?

Answer

For those joining us from out of town, there is a small airport in Charlottesville and another in Richmond, VA (about an hour drive away), but your best bet will likely be to travel through DC. Charlottesville is about a 2-2.5 hour drive from DC for those renting a car, but there are also train options. The Northeast Regional and other Amtrak lines run from BWI Airport, Union Station in DC proper, and the Alexandria station in the Virginia suburbs to Charlottesville a couple times a day. The DC area has 3 airports- Baltimore (BWI), Dulles (IAD), and Reagan National (DCA). Of those options, BWI is the farthest from Charlottesville but the easiest to connect to the Amtrack. IAD is marginally closest to Charlottesville but would be best to drive from vs connecting to the train. DCA represents the best of both worlds, being not much further in drive time but also a short hop away from the Alexandria train station.

We have reserved room blocks for the Graduate and the Home2Suites. There will be two shuttles the day of that will pick up guests at 4pm.

Question

What other amenities or activities are available on the Clifton Inn property during the weekend?

Answer

The Clifton Inn includes 20 guest rooms spanning five late 18th century and early 19th century buildings, a restaurant, bar and lounge, and wine cellar. The property features an infinity pool and hot tub, and outdoor features include a private lake, walking trails, a croquet lawn, and many gardens (including the chef's garden for the restaurant!).

Question

What is the dress code for the wedding day?

Answer

The dress code is black tie, but we want you to feel comfortable and look your best. Thank you for celebrating with us!

Question

Is the ceremony outside?

Answer

The ceremony will be outside on the front lawn. However, the reception will be covered by a tent with hardwood flooring. For the ladies, I’d recommend wearing a block heel or purchasing a heel protector for the grassy areas of our venue.
