We matched on the dating app, Bumble, in December of 2018. Jay was home from grad school for Christmas break at the time and I was living in Dallas attending cosmetology school. After matching on the app we talked for a few days before he called me up and asked me out on a proper date. For our first date he took me to dinner at Tulum. Dinner was great and sparks were flying! After dinner I invited him to come with me to an annual Christmas party that my best friend's family throws every year. It was a big ask for a first date but Jay was game! We joke that Jay met all of my friends and family the same night that I met him. Knowing his personality better now, I am really impressed at how well he held his own! After a long night, we said our goodbyes and Jay headed home. Shortly after he left, I realized my phone had been stolen off the charger. I spent the next 3 days without a phone leaving Jay to wonder why I never responded to his messages following up after our date. According to his family, he was very sad not to hear from me and naturally, assumed I must not have been interested in pursuing a relationship. Oops!! On Christmas Eve I got a new phone and messaged him explaining the situation, saying I had a great time. Straight away he set up a second date. The day after our second date we went to the zoo together which then transitioned into a rooftop happy hour and dinner. We spent the coming weeks getting to know one another's families and each other, practically joined at the hip when schedules allowed. And the rest is history... We are so thankful for the Lord's timing in bringing us together and the close friends, family members and mentors that have played such a large role in cultivating our relationship. We could not be more excited to start this new chapter of our lives together and can't wait to continue writing our story.
