Things To Do

Here's a list of our favorite spots around town, focusing slightly on those closer to Hotel Eastlund and the inner core of Portland. There's so many fantastic places to eat, drink, and explore that you can't go wrong following Google Maps' suggestions, but these are some standout favorites to check out. In order of Food by time of day, then Bars & Breweries, then Other. If you're looking for hiking/outdoor suggestions, just text us :-)

Brunch: Junior's Cafe

1742 Southeast 12th Avenue, Portland, OR 97214
, (503) 477-8147

This is in the running for Jay's favorite brunch spot. Solid offerings for all dietary needs, including a need for great biscuits and gravy.

Brunch: Broder Café

2508 Southeast Clinton Street, Portland, OR 97202
, (503) 736-3333

A delicious Swedish brunch that's very unique and has been around a long time. On a shortlist of Jay's favorite 'birthday' spots around town. A few locations around Portland (and Hood River!)

Lunch/Dinner: Nong's Khao Man Gai

609 Southeast Ankeny Street, Portland, OR 97214
, (503) 740-2907

One of Portland's most famous food-carts turned brick-and-mortar restaurants, specializing in a mysteriously delicious chicken and rice dish. Drool-worthy tasty

Lunch/Dinner: Tropicale

2337 Northeast Glisan Street, Portland, OR 97232
, (503) 894-9484

Beautiful Caribbean/Latin American eatery that's pretty casual with all outdoor seating, Instagram-worthy cocktails and delicious food.

Lunch/Dinner: Cartopia

1207 Southeast Hawthorne Boulevard, Portland, OR 97214

Portland is known for it's food carts and food cart pods, and this is one of the best. With over half a dozen carts to choose from this is a great spot for a group. Famed Potato Champion food cart is here, along with pizza, Mexican, crepes, chicken rotisserie and more.

Happy Hour/Dinner: Tope

15 Northwest 4th Avenue, Portland, OR 97209
, (503) 770-0500

Get a couple tacos and a drink at the restaurant (and balcony) we got engaged at!! Parking can be tight so taking a Lyft is a great option.

With 5 separate bars/restaurants, a soaking pool, hotel rooms and a movie theater, this property is well worth an hour or two of your time. Get the cajun tots and order a Rubinator beer!
