Jay and Cari's journey began back in the summer of 2014, where they found each other through an online dating website. After Cari had been on various dates with men that didn't pan out, she got a little shy about venturing further into the dating world. One day, she came across Jay's profile and was immediately drawn to his smile -- but was too nervous to make the first move. She instead rated him a 5 out of 5, hoping that he'd rate similarly and create a virtual match. Jay was having similar struggles with the online dating world but thankfully, he had a little more confidence. He rated her back, and reached out right away, saying that he'd love to take her to a Mariner game (it can be argued that he now suffers at these games, but that is a story for another day). They began chatting non-stop, and a couple weeks later went on their first official date at a nearby pizza parlor, followed by a sunny walk through Redmond Town Center. They bonded over their love of movies, video games, and their not-so-guilty pleasure of Disney Channel original movies. On May 15, 2019, Jay and Cari were on a vacation with Jay's father in Los Angeles, California. After spending the day exploring The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, Jay asked Cari to go for a walk along the beach. They sat together watching dozens of sailboats sail along the waves. As Cari stood up to start the walk back, Jay got down on one knee and proposed. She of course said yes, and in true Cari fashion, started crying.

A certain "C" word threw a wrench in their wedding plans. On September 3, 2021, Jay and Cari exchanged vows in a private ceremony in Cari's mom's backyard. Jay and Cari look forward to celebrating their one-year anniversary with their loved ones in a reception celebration on September 3, 2022!
