Bella was just trying to get through a normal shift at Johnny’s Tavern West in Lawrence, Kansas—serving tables, running food, and probably wondering why college students survive almost entirely on appetizers and soda. Meanwhile, Jaxon, a Baker University baseball player, was doing what any hungry athlete does best: eating. A lot. One day, in between bites, he noticed Bella and did what any curious guy would do—he asked one of her coworkers, “Who is that?” Fate (and the Instagram algorithm) stepped in soon after when Bella popped up on Jaxon’s feed. Naturally, he made his move and slid into her DMs. Bella, however, was not immediately impressed. Or responsive. But Jaxon is nothing if not persistent. After what felt like 100 Snapchats (give or take), Bella finally agreed to give him a chance. For their first date, Bella made the bold decision to meet him at his college fraternity house—because nothing says “romance” like questionable furniture and a group of loud college guys. Jaxon, ever the charmer, immediately put her to work helping him hang decorations… which, to be clear, were not good. After their decorating debut, they headed to El Potro in Lawrence for some Mexican food, where things clicked. Between tacos, laughter, and probably some mild judgment about those decorations, they realized they actually really liked each other. From that night on, they were pretty much inseparable—hanging out almost every day and building a relationship that started with persistence, a little skepticism, and some truly questionable decorating skills. And now, they're getting married at the Castello di Oliveto!
