Our Love Story

September 2018 - Connecticut

On the first day of organic chemistry discussion section, Amy saw Jaxon sitting in another group working on a problem set. While they had not yet introduced themselves, Jaxon raised his hand to answer a difficult question about hydrogen acidity. Amy took note that Jaxon seemed smart and would be a good person to talk to. A week later, Amy made it a point to sit in the same group as Jaxon. After class, she introduced herself and asked for his number and if he wanted to study together. The first time they met for dinner was at WesWings. This was followed shortly by barbecue (R.I.P. Cook and the Bear) where Jaxon ate so much meat that the chef came out to personally shake his hand. Often times, the two would go on a Mamoun's falafel or grilled cheese excursion after a long night of studying. Rinse and repeat for 4 semesters. A few things were true. First, Jaxon never answered another organic chemistry question correctly after that first day. Second, the two would spend hours and hours of their waking time together through late night study sessions, cocktail making and drinking (sorry mom), and jam sessions that probably annoyed Jaxon's roommate. Third, each time that Amy returned to Wesleyan from break, she grew more and more convinced that she loved Jaxon, and wondered if he felt the same. Fourth, he did. The two grew to see the other as an immutable, definite part of their own future. Amy and Jaxon may seem inseparable and sticky now, but all who knew them at Wesleyan would know that, even when they were friends, you would rarely see one without the other.
