From city center, it is about 85 miles away, or roughly an hour and a half drive.
For U.S. travelers, if you fly Thursday, you will get in Friday and so on. If you arrive Friday, take some time and enjoy Dublin, but you should start making your way over towards the castle on Saturday. Please see the travel page for other nice hotels. The night before the wedding, most of us, including the couple, will be staying in the lodge. The night of the wedding, many of you will be moved to the castle and will spend the night with us there
If you are in Dublin, it will be similar to many major cities. In Monaghan, where the wedding is taking place, your money will go a lot further!
If you fly in Friday, you will arrive Saturday afternoon and will probably come straight to the county. Most people we have spoken to anticipate arriving Friday or Saturday afternoon and leaving Monday Evening or Tuesday afternoon. However this all differs from person to person. We figure you will definitely spend 2 nights in Monaghan.
All non-stop International flights out of Dublin come out of Terminal 2. If you have a small layover in London, you will go out of Terminal 1. Keep in mind, if you have a nonstop out of Terminal 2 or a layover in the States, all immigration is done on the Irish side, so arrive early. If you have a layover through England, you will have to go through customs in the U.S.
