Some love stories begin with fireworks, grand gestures, or dramatic moments… Ours began with a sweet Instagram DM from a high-school football player who noticed a dancer cheering her heart out on the sidelines. Javier messaged me during a season when the football team couldn’t buy a win, just to say how much he appreciated my support. He didn’t know it then, but that simple, genuine message became the first page of our story one that God, timing, and destiny all had their hands on. From that very first conversation, something just clicked. It felt natural, easy, warm… like we had known each other forever. Soon we were going to homecoming together, making memories that still feel like sunshine, and creating a connection that was sweeter and stronger than we ever expected. And then came one of my favorite moments of our entire story. On New Year’s Eve, right when the world counted down to midnight, Javier asked me to be his girlfriend. As the clock struck 12 and the new year began, so did we. There was something almost magical about it starting a whole new year hand in hand, officially together, like the universe was giving us its blessing. We danced through prom together, laughed through long high-school days, and built a bond that felt soft, young, and full of possibility. But like many great love stories, ours had a chapter where we stepped away from each other for a while. It was hard, but it was necessary because sometimes love needs room to grow, to breathe, to find its way back even stronger. And that’s exactly what happened. In college, we kept crossing paths… without trying, without planning, without even expecting it. Those moments didn’t feel random they felt intentional, like little reminders from God saying, “I’m not done writing your story.” Then came October 31st, 2021. On a day filled with costumes, candy, and fun, Javier asked me out on a date… and everything in me felt at home the moment we were together again. It wasn’t just “a date.” It was a reunion of two souls that had been missing each other far longer than we admitted. By February 12th, 2022, he asked me to be his girlfriend again and this time, it felt like stepping back into something we both always knew was ours. From then on, our love grew deeper, steadier, and so much stronger. We went through college side by side supporting each other through late-night studying, stressful semesters, big dreams, and big celebrations. We weren’t just dating… we were becoming a team. Two people completely obsessed with each other, cheering each other on through every challenge and every victory. On December 22nd, 2022, we graduated from UTRGV together both walking across the stage with our bachelor’s degrees, knowing that every step we took, we took side by side. Looking back, our story has never been about perfect timing it’s been about right timing. About growth. About God bringing us back together every single time. About hearts that recognize each other again and again. About choosing each other over and over. We’ve said this to each other for years now, sometimes in whispers, sometimes laughing, sometimes with tears in our eyes: “It was always you" And now, standing at the beginning of forever, we know it more than ever. Every moment, every chapter, every turn brought us right here to the love we were always meant to return to. A love that feels like home. A love that feels like destiny. A love that has always, always been us. 💕✨
