The day was March 4th 2013. It was two hours of awkward silence, packed like sardines in a cargo transport aircraft, with half the Marines asleep and the other half listening to music, when our handsome groom first saw his soon to be wife sitting uncomfortably between two other Marines. Our groom goes unnoticed for another week until the future bride meets him in a tent along with eight others that would be working together for their time in Gwang Yang Korea. Standing in a circle, they all introduce theirselves by rank, name, and unit. “Good Afternoon, I’m Lance Corporal Fernandez from CLR 35.” Everyone’s explained the mission, expectations, rules and restrictions. After the formalities, Fernandez walks up and asks “Dude Ponce, do you know if we’re good to head to chow?” “It’s Corporal Ponce, and yeah I think so.” A few days go by till we’re finally granted liberty, and Dude Ponce and Fernandez became libo buddies, workout buddies, and late night snack buddies. Over a delicious burger from a fast food place called Loteria the two knew that they were gonna be more than just buddies. Seven years and two beautiful children later they’re getting married.
