The Anand Karaj (wedding ceremony) will take place at the Cleveland Sikh Gurdwara in Twinsburg, Ohio, on May 22, 2026. The reception will be in Michigan.
The Anand Karaj is the Sikh wedding ceremony, meaning “Blissful Union.” It takes place at a Gurdwara and is a spiritual ceremony centered on the couple’s commitment to one another and to a shared life guided by Sikh values. During the ceremony, the couple walks together around the Guru Granth Sahib (the Sikh holy scripture) four times, representing love, duty, trust, and unity. The ceremony is peaceful, meaningful, and typically lasts about [30–60 minutes]. Guests are seated on the floor as a sign of equality, and everyone is welcome to observe and celebrate this sacred moment with us.
No need to bring anything! Head coverings will be provided at the Gurdwara if you don’t have one. What should I wear? Indian attire for the events is optional! For gurdwara/Anand Karaj on May 22, we request that you wear either pants or a full length dress with shoulders covered and a head covering (bandana/shawl) if you are wearing Western wear. For other events, dress code is semi formal and reception is formal At the Gurdwara: Heads must be covered (scarves will be available if needed) Shoes must be removed Please avoid wearing shorts, short skirts, or strapless outfits
