We met in the high desert of the Klamath Basin in southern Oregon in the winter of 2018, working as mentors at a therapeutic residential program for young adults. That next spring, Jasper moved up to Portland and, fortuitously, Ria arrived in the summer. It was with the backdrop of the city of Portland that we fell in love. We enjoyed many bike rides, concerts, yummy meals, road trips, and celebrations together. We supported one another through graduate school, a pandemic, and the ups and downs of pursuing clinical licensure. In May of 2024, while at the Oregon coast, we made our proposals to one another and decided to get married. We are so excited to celebrate our love with you all!
Sou'wester is a historic lodge and vintage travel trailer resort located in the small town of Seaview, which is about 30 mins from historic and artsy Astoria, OR and only 5 minutes from beachy, kitschy Long Beach, WA. While Sou'wester offers a secluded feel, it's actually located in a residential neighborhood, about 10 minutes walking distance from the beach and only a few blocks from the main road (Hwy 101). So, though quiet, it is by no means wild or remote. It offers a bounty of amenities such as a secluded Finnish style sauna (with a cold soak tub and outdoor shower), a school bus converted into an intimate movie theater, a trailer presenting seasonal art exhibits, a VHS library, a tiny but mighty thrift shop, and more! We have blocked out the resort for the whole weekend, so that all of our guests can enjoy the grounds.
