Our original game plan may have changed, but through it all we managed to make our wedding goal possible last summer on July 25, 2020. Now, as with any victory, we're ready for the big celebration - we mean like "poppin' bottles" and "dancing on table tops" kind of celebration! We can't wait to finally share all the wedding excitement and joy with you!!
Someday it might be described as the old-fashioned way of meeting. We met thanks to both of us "buzzing" around on a popular dating app, and of course, a little luck! On our first date, Jason drove into Chicago’s Lakeview neighborhood to meet Val. Barely eating a thing, we noticed those little butterflies in our stomachs, and continued laughing and talking more than we expected. After walking Val home, Jason sweetly asked for her phone number before saying goodbye. Luckily for us, we haven't stopped laughing and talking since that very first night!
Out of the blue, Jason planned a late night reservation at a restaurant Val always wanted to try. He even suggested visiting her favorite spot in the city, the Art Institute of Chicago. Amazed at his spontaneous mid-week dinner plans, she couldn’t wait. That night after visiting AIC, Jason suggested walking by Buckingham Fountain in Grant Park. Val fell for his line about never seeing it before, and like the good Chicagoan she is, jumped at the chance to stroll over and provide hometown commentary to a Detroiter. Once we reached the fountain all lit up with music playing in the background, Jason found an uncrowded area and before Val knew it, he was down on one knee revealing a beautiful diamond ring. Now Jason insists on this part getting included because as he was taking Val’s right hand to propose, she continually interrupted him to tell him to take her (correct) left hand. Due to this, neither of us can quite remember what Jason said as he professed his undying love and asked Val for her hand in marriage. Ecstatic beyond belief, she said yes! The rest of the night was celebrated with dinner & drinks! We are so excited to continue the celebration with everyone!
