Prelude ~ Bear with me, trying to explain virtual reality to people who may have never tried it at all.. But here's a short run down. Tip: if you've ever seen any futuristic movies like ready player one or tron, that's the closest I'm going to get to explaining this simply.. So you start with putting on your headset, that when you turn it on, illuminates not just one area, but thousands of entirely different worlds and areas you can pick from. From animated areas all over the world, to cyberpunk homes, clubs, movie theaters.. the list is endless. Now take it further. Yes, you see this area around you, you can interact and explore it, now strap a sensor on your waist, both feet, and have a controller in each hand. Now, everything you do in the real world is shown in this virtual world, but through a character model.. so if I dance in real life, I dance in the game.. This became a massive part and still is a massive part of our lives. And many of us found this as a way to meet and have fun with others, many during COVID when there was much uncertainty in "the real world". Little did we know when we first got on that this "game" would become a reality where we've met many of our now best friends.. The Main Event ~ It all started 3 years ago, we both came home from work, I didn't know her, she didn't know me, both going into Virtual Reality to hang out with our friends. For me, it was another night of getting on with my best friend T and letting the night take us whenever.. Unfortunately for him, he introduced me to Monica as soon as we got on that night, and well, I did what any best friend does, slowly fall in love with a girl and break his homies heart... Sorry T.. The first couple nights were some of the most fun I've had with someone.. sharing and bonding over everything in our lives from our jobs, animes, games, beliefs, desires, clothing styles.. We worked, came home, and spent the rest of our day doing nothing but talking, watching shows in virtual reality, gaming... Oh, and fun fact, well over 100 hours of conversation, and we still had no clue what we looked like.. needless to say when we showed each other, we both were more than happy.. lol.. These long nights eventually led into long weeks, and then months. To eventually non seriously planning to move across the entire country. Until it became serious.. Things began to line up one by one, and once I was told by my district manager for T-Mobile in Seattle that they'd love to have me in downtown, I left. Streaming the entire drive to my friends and Monica.. The rest of the story writes itself.. But to say that move led to the best things in our lives, is an understatement. I'll let the video Monica made for me, speak to the first year!
