The pandemic may have thrown a wrench in many things but we just couldn't wait to get married! We got married in an intimate ceremony on Sunday, December 20, 2020 at the courthouse in Alexandria, Virginia. We were joined by our immediate families and followed the ceremony up with a wedding photoshoot in DC! It may not have been the wedding we originally planned as we had hoped to celebrate with each and every one of you; but it ended up being the most perfect wedding day we could have imagined! If you haven't had the chance to see our wedding photos, feel free to scroll through the photo section!
Ocean City has a special meaning for the both of us. Growing up, it is the prime location to which our families would vacation when we didn't plan "big" trips. So when we started dating, we frequented Ocean City almost every weekend in the summer for day trips. The Rainbow in Ocean City holds a special place in Jason's heart. It was his grandparents' beach home where he spent countless summers and created family memories. On July 4, 2019, we gathered along with the Hoops' and McManus' in front of Room 506 to watch the fireworks. As the finale approached and the fireworks lit up the sky, Jason turned Lina around, got down on one knee, and said... "Babe, I love you so much. I want you to be my wife. I want to spend my life with you and do everything with you. Will you marry me?" Some happy tears later, we're engaged! (... and getting married!) Special thanks to Ivy for capturing this milestone in our lives!
Swipe right! Actually, we didn't swipe for each other. We met on a dating app when Jason decided to make the first move. "If money was not an issue and you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?" he asked. To which Lina answered, "That's easy! Australia! I've always wanted to go." And so our story begins... Well... almost! We almost didn't go on a date. We were on the phone the previous night talking each other's ears off. Interests. Hobbies. Values. Social/political view points? UH OH! It's not like Jason had a strong opinion on these topics or anything?! He said, "Well it doesn't matter what you think, it is what it is. That's the reality." So Lina told Jason she'd sleep on it and decide if she still wanted to go on this first date. The next day came - the day of our first date. Imagine that you are about to meet someone for the first time and he plans a nice, casual date for you - only to find out that the restaurant he chose was permanently closed!!! Not to mention the fact that Jason had originally suggested a first date at a haunted forest. Two strangers meeting for the first time in a dark forest with people jumping out at you. (Totally not thinking murder or something!!!) Let's fast forward shall we? First date. Relationship. And two years later... WE'RE ENGAGED!
