How We Met

COVID Lockdown Spring 2020

We did what any single millennial would do while in lockdown- we got on Tinder. Lauren had just moved to Louisville, KY, then the pandemic hit. What better way to meet new people in town than virtually, when there is no other choice. The strict lockdown went on for about 6 weeks where we virtually chatted with each other and had our first dates online while playing Animal Crossing and Mario Kart. At last, the lockdown eased up to allow people to meet outdoors, so we went on our first official in person date on the walking bridge.

The Proposal

9.19.21

We set sail on the Belle of Louisville for their "Boujie Brunch" event including a buffet, mimosas, and a ride down the Ohio River. After the brunch, we went back to our first meeting spot; the walking bridge. We made it to the swing bench where we shared our first kiss, and Jason proposed.

Planning the Wedding

A wild ride of postponing and rescheduling

We originally planned to have our wedding in September 2022, however a few things got in the way. First, our plan to have an outdoor barn wedding fell through, then wedding planning became impossible when Lauren was finishing her Master's degree and studying for the board exams. We reluctantly postponed the wedding to 2023. We found the perfect wedding venue for May of 2023- The Water Tower right on the Ohio river where we first met and where we got engaged. It was too good to be true! About a month after booking, they called us to let us know that they had to cancel all 2023 weddings due to infrastructure issues. Wedding planning disaster #2! We ended up finding a venue last minute that kept the same wedding date, had an outdoor area for the ceremony and cocktail hour, and an indoor area for the reception. The Mellwood Art Center, home to artist studios, galleries, shops, and cafes became our new venue. We survived many ups and downs, life events, and stressors such as Jason's sweet dog Kiki's passing, Lauren finishing her Master's and passing her Board Exams, postponing weddings, and having to find a new venue last minute. If we could make it through those though times, we can make it through anything! We are excited to keep gaining new life events and experiences such as moving in together, getting two puppies, getting engaged, and finally getting married! We are so excited to celebrate this next chapter in our lives with you.
