Jason and Kelby’s story technically begins in Lafayette, IN where they both attended Clear River Church. However, it was not until God asked both of them to uproot their lives, quit their jobs, and move to Athens, Georgia with a group of roughly 40 people to plant a new church, where their story truly begins. Who would’ve thought that they would have to travel 655+ miles to find love? Within the first year of living down south, Jason and Kelby quickly found a friendship with one another. It took several nudges from friends for both of them to finally come to terms with their feelings. During a drive to Indiana in late July of 2020, Kelby couldn’t take any more pressure from her friends and confessed her feelings to Jason. Luckily, mutual feelings were finally unveiled to one another. Shortly after returning to Athens, Jason picked up Kelby for their first date of putt-putt, ice cream, and Kelby’s favorite, watching the sunset. Dates kept coming and so did the feelings. Kelby and Jason both knew early on that they saw a solid future with one another. Families were met, holidays spent together, best friends approved, they traveled to new places, ate lots of yummy food and of course watched some more sunsets. Come May 2021, it was time for Jason to get creative. He asked Mr. Hufford, found a ring, and got all the details sorted out. After months of Kelby begging Jason to take her up on the rooftop of his work building, the day had come. Jason had set up a gorgeous picnic, complete with a sunset of course. It was on that night that he popped the big question… and she said “YES!” of course! If you ask Kelby whether she was surprised or not, she’ll tell you that she wasn’t trying to get her hopes up, but couldn’t stop thinking “this would be the perfect time.” Well, Jason knows Kelby well, and pulled the whole thing off flawlessly. The night was complete by celebrating with several church friends, sparklers and sweet treats.
