Episode I: Our Beginning

In a galaxy not too far, far away.. Through a chance encounter, a boy named Jason met a girl named Emily on the Eve of Christmas, 2013. Upon seeing each other for the first time, Jason was mesmerized by Emily's breathtaking smile and striking eyes while Emily was just as intrigued by Jason's boyish charm. Playing it cool, he extended his best greeting in hopes of sparking a conversation with her. "Hey, hi. Merry Christmas Eve", he said. "You, too", she replied with a coy smirk. Neither wanting that moment to be fleeting, the two quickly established common ground after realizing they both had a liking to the band, Chvrches. As the conversation flowed, they discovered that beyond their shared ear for music, they had mutual interests in film and pop culture (Wes Anderson films, Star Wars, & Adventure Time), and what matters the most - food, particularly sushi. At the time, Jason was working in human resources at a marketing company and Emily was a graduate student at UC Berkeley completing her clinical rotations in optometry. Luckily, Emily did not need to check Jason's eyes as he clearly saw with his 20/20 vision that a date with her needed to happen. The pair happily exchanged phone numbers, which turned into a daily routine of swapping song suggestions, lighthearted banter, and posing quirky questions. All the while, their fascination in each another grew. With high hopes of starting the upcoming year with fireworks of their very own, Jason and Emily set out on their first date on New Year's day, 2014. They watched the movie, Her, which fittingly, told the story of an unexpected romance. Afterwards, they settled at a nearby lounge where they sat for hours; sharing stories and laughs, the conversation occurring with ease and comfort. Their connection was undeniably magnetic. As that memorable winter night drew to a close, the cold in the air was replaced with a warmth stirring in both of their hearts as Jason and Emily knew something truly special had begun.

Episode II: Our Love

Jason and Emily were seemingly inseparable following their first date, as they were completely enamored by each other. From surviving the slopes of Lake Tahoe to watching the sunset atop Twin Peaks, smiles were plentiful as they eagerly ventured from one date to the next. Adding to that enthusiasm was their desire to learn from and with each other. Emily hit a home run learning the rules of baseball from Jason, whereas Jason struck out in his mandarin lessons from Emily; but together, they withstood life's curveballs. Springtime came and Emily relocated to Atwater, CA to complete her last rotation, a move that limited her time with Jason to weekends. Although saddened, the pair would learn it was good practice for what was to come. Emily's rotation soon ended and she returned to Berkeley for her graduation, becoming an optometrist. This joyous occasion was marked by another defining moment for both Emily's career and her relationship with Jason. Placing them hundreds of miles apart, Emily accepted a residency at a Veterans Affairs hospital near Seattle, WA, which would later become a full-time position. Faced with the improbabilities and sacrifices of dating long distance, Jason and Emily confidently embraced their new circumstance, placing their faith in the one constant: their love. They promised one another their love would persevere above all. In fact, their love flourished. Jason and Emily missed no opportunity in showing the other that they were committed by way of dinner dates via FaceTime to mailing each other love notes. Visits to each other were anticipated reunions, and times spent in WA were particularly special as they were able to explore a new place together. They felt at home there, indulging in local fares and immersing themselves in the PNW music scene. Outside of the city, a picturesque landscape was their playground as they paddle boarded and unearthed hiking trails. Whether in CA or WA, home was wherever Jason and Emily were together.

Episode III: Our Proposal

2014 had come and gone, and the couple who met a year prior now found themselves unequivocally in love. Throughout that first year, Jason and Emily came to appreciate all facets of one other, even if it meant Emily dealing with Jason's off-key singing and Jason not minding being Emily's "Instagram Husband". By loving each other unconditionally, they both knew they were meant to be. Even through their jokes about who would be in charge when married and debates on who would change their future child's diapers, those talks carried a sincere sentiment - that Jason and Emily wanted nothing more than to be together forever. With that, Jason slowly began to craft a magical proposal for Emily, which he first revealed to Emily's parents, who gave him their blessing and best wishes. Jason channeled his nostalgia while planning the proposal, selecting their two-year anniversary, January 1, 2016, to propose. The scene was to be set at the Experience Music Project Museum (EMP) in Seattle, an attraction Jason and Emily frequented as it perfectly embodied their shared interests. The EMP housed the Sky Church, a room boasting a massive screen and sound system. All that was left to do, was to wait. At last, the day had come. Following a morning of celebrating their anniversary, Jason took Emily to the EMP under the guise of seeing a new exhibit. As planned with EMP, Jason guided Emily into the Sky Church, placing themselves at the center of it. The lights dimmed, and on the screen was a starry night sky with a bright moon cascading over them. While enveloped by this atmospheric landscape, "The Moon Song", the theme from the movie, Her, began to play. Realizing it was 'the' moment, Emily's eyes welled as Jason held her before getting down on one knee. "Will you marry me?" "Of course, yes!" They embraced as their surroundings faded, and as the song goes, Jason and Emily truly felt as if they were a million miles away in a galaxy of their own, but not too far, far away..

Epilogue

Jason and Emily are very, very much happily in love and cannot wait to spend their special day with you. And, yes, they did finally see Chvrches perform live.
