Claire and Jason both self identify as long time fans of a Michigan-native DJ named Griz, who hosts an annual retreat called Camp Kulabunga which focuses on radical inclusion, community, self-empowerment, and wellness. Due to the pandemic in 2020, Griz & friends hosted the annual event online. The couple attended via Zoom in August, Jason in his hometown of Springfield, New Jersey and Claire in Macomb, Michigan. The stars aligned and they were split into the same breakout room for lunch on Day 1. Claire thought fast and asked for the Snapchats of Jason and the other two boys in the room so she could keep track of the cutie she'd felt an instant connection with. Jason reached out on Monday after the event, Claire slid him her digits, and the rest is history.
After long weeks of Zooms, Claire flew to New Jersey in October 2020 where the couple met in person for the first time. Jason moved in with Claire in Michigan in February 2022 and the two were engaged before the end of the year.
