Jason and I met through our mutual friend, Laura. He was her neighbor, along with her husband, Mike. I worked with Laura, and one day during our break, she suggested that Jason and I casually reach out to each other. At that point in our lives, neither of us was looking for anything serious—just a friendship. We started talking often and quickly discovered how much we had in common—shared interests, similar beliefs, and an easy connection. Before long, that friendship blossomed into something more. Fast forward seven years: we sold our individual homes and bought one together. Then, in January, during the Wild Lights at the Cincinnati Zoo, Jason got down on one knee and proposed—asking me to be his forever.
