If you're thinking of staying in D.C., you can absolutely take the metro and get an uber/lyft from there. The closest metro station to the house is the Glenmont metro station, which is about 15 minutes away. Silver Spring metro station would also work, it is about 20 minutes away. They are both on the red line.
