Jason and Heather attended high school together. However, they didn't really know each other until after graduation when their friends took a vacation to California for some beach time and of course Disneyland! This is where Heather started to develop a little crush on Jason. He was easy going and a lot of fun. What's not to like! Jason on the other hand was oblivious! They both went off to college. Jason stayed local and went to Arizona State University while Heather went to her Mom's alma mater Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois. Those next four years they would hang out in the summers and Heather would periodically visit her friends at ASU during school breaks, always hoping to see Jason. Fast forward to after college, Heather moves back to Arizona. The two started hanging out frequently. Those days were filled with basketball and soccer at the park, movie nights, hikes, and even the occasional weekend trip. Heather loved every moment of it. After quite some time and many discussions with friends and family, Jason asked Heather out. It was Friday Nov 13th and they obviously were watching scary movies! As they were deciding which movie to watch, Jason casually asked what Heather thought about them dating. Heather freaked out, gave no response, and started the movie. However, when the movie ended Heather brought up his question from early and that's when they planned their first date and their relationship started.
The day had finally arrived, Heather and Jason were getting ready to drive down to Rocky Point Mexico with her family to spend a long weekend at the beach, only this trip was going to be a little more special than usual. You see, Heather and her family have been traveling down to Rocky Point for several years and Jason had become a regular in the past couple years. During that time, it had become a special place for Heather and Jason where they got to spend time together relaxing, walking along the beach, and watching many sunsets. This is what led Jason to determine he wanted to propose here. But it wasn’t only just a special place for the two of them, Jason had really enjoyed getting to know Heather’s family on these trips so he wanted the whole family to be involved in the proposal. And so, the planning began -- secret meetings, phone calls, and emails occurred over the 2 months leading up to the trip. Jason’s parents secretly drove down to Mexico earlier the same morning to drop off the arrangements for the proposal then snuck off to a house just 5 minutes down the beach. Upon arrival, following lunch and some family pics, Heather’s grandma took her down to the beach for a walk to give everyone else a chance to setup on the roof without her seeing. Then came the big moment, as Heather and Jason walked up the steps to the roof Dani called down for Heather to close her eyes. Jason led Heather up the last couple steps, guided her in front of the table with the ‘Marry Me’ letters, and got down on one knee...he had done it, gotten Heather all the way there without her having a clue. As Heather opened her eyes, she saw the marquee letters, squealed, and spun around to see Jason on one knee holding the ring they had picked out together. “Yes!” she exclaimed as he asked, “Will you marry me?” and they came together and embraced. Finally, after a few tears they opened their eyes to see all the family there. Success, they had all done it and it was time for celebration!
