David and I met on a dating app called OkCupid (free promo lol). Although I joined the app in hopes of finding a companion, I did not anticipate meeting the love of my life so soon. A friend of mine met her husband on the app so she recommended for me to try it out. After trying it out for a few weeks I got bored, which I usually do on any of those apps, and decided I would soon delete it. Before I went forward with deleting the app I read something in a guy's description box saying that he never expects a woman to reach out to him because women never message first. I realized I have never messaged a guy first, not that I was afraid to, it just never crossed my mind. So I decided to reach out to a few people because I figured “Why not?”. David was one of the guys that liked my profile so I sent him a message. Out of the few others that responded, David right away seemed like he had a great personality and the conversation was fun. During the time of our online engagement I was consistently excited to receive messages from him. Talking with him was very refreshing and that feeling you get when you meet someone new is always great. It was Christmas when he asked me out on a date. A few days later we met, had a few more dates in the following couple of weeks and after that we spent almost every day together. Normally I don’t move so fast in a relationship but with David it all felt so easy.
The greatest and easiest decision of my life was when I knew I wanted to spend the rest of it with Jasmyne. I knew pretty early that she was the one. So after a good amount of time of sucking my gut in and using my A-material zingers, I knew it was the right time. After sly and totally not obvious hints of seeing what type of ring she liked (Something like "YO WHAT RING DO YOU LIKE?") I ordered the ring. She had no idea it was coming. After months of gold miners scouring deep caves and Viking blacksmiths smoldering it together, all while shouting ancient grogorian chants, the ring was ready. Blue sapphire and all. The moment I got the call that it was ready I knew there was one thing I had to do; Lie. "Hi, is this David Johnson?" "Yes, it is." "This is So-in-so or something-or-in-other from Shane Co. just letting you know that.." "OH HEY STAN FROM BARNES AND NOBLE. THANKS FOR LETTING ME KNOW THAT BOOK IS IN. I'LL BE RIGHT OVER!" Jaz was sitting right next to me. With how sweaty and nervous I got she probably thought I was really pumped for that book. I went the next day to pick it up. When I got back, I was totally smooth. Just pacing back and forth you know, all casual-like. I planned on asking in a few days at some restaurant or on the top of a mountain or something. But then I thought that might be a tad too much. I also knew I wasn't going to be able to keep this secret with how nervous I was. I thought the best option would be if we went out to eat or go somewhere then and there. She just had a long day at work and really didn't want to leave. So after saying something like, "what's a good outfit to have on for a life changing memory." I think she knew then but she probably thought I was just being weird. I pulled out a book of 4x6 pictures I made of all of our memories and went through each one. We were both crying by the end of it. I dropped down on one knee and asked if she'd spend the rest of her life with me. Greatest day of my life. She said "yes."
