Tyler and Jasmine’s story began at Wright State University in an African American Experience class during their very first semester. Though they didn’t interact directly at first, Tyler quickly took note of Jasmine’s confidence—how she thoughtfully answered questions, led class reflections, and often saved everyone from dreaded pop quizzes. Jasmine noticed the tall and handsome guy in the room, with the towering high-top fade. Who spoke highly of his family and upbringing. Often reflecting on his parent’s unique teaching style that solidified his sense of self-love and belonging. Their paths started to converge even more as both became involved in student activism on campus, driven by a shared passion for social justice and interest in Black history. When both applied to join the Fall 2016 Fellowship for the Ohio Student Association, Tyler seized the moment to reach out and introduce himself. What started as mutual respect and shared purpose soon grew into a relationship deeply rooted in love, admiration, humor, and an unwavering sense of purpose.
