Pushed by an insatiable thirst for music, Lorenzo and I decided to follow our dreams in California. Though we are practically from the same neighborhood in Rome, we had to travel halfway across the world to meet (6,333 miles/10,191.98km to be exact). He moved from Rome in 2000, and I began my adventure in Los Angeles in 2011.When a mutual friend of ours introduced us, it was all about music. I was new to Los Angeles, and I was looking for musicians to work with. Lorenzo was one of the first to reply and a wonderful new friendship blossomed. We became very close and began working together quite a bit. Although all of our friends were already convinced we were more than just friends, we were afraid that becoming romantically involved could tarnish our magnificent friendship as well as our professional relationship. Well... Turns out... WE WERE WRONG. VERY WRONG! TO SAY THE LEAST! We have grown together in love, in music, in life, and our relationship continues to surprise us and grow stronger by the minute. We are inspired by one another each and every day, and we cannot wait to begin this new chapter of this incredible adventure together. Our love has also brought new magnificent people into our lives. We are so grateful for your friendship and are delighted to share our special day with you! We look forward to celebrating with you!
In Italy, on December 8th everyone usually decorates their Christmas tree, but we didn't have one, so I was going about my business as usual. Lorenzo had played a gig in Los Angeles the day before and was on his way back to our home in the desert. It was just about noon when I heard honking and saw Lorenzo coming through with a HUGE xmas tree! I couldn't believe my eyes! I ran out to greet him and helped him unload the majestic Christmas beast from the truck. I thought we'd decorate it right away, but Lorenzo had something else in mind. He asked me to help him cut the lock from a gated fence in our backyard since we didn't have a key for it. I thought it was a strange request, but figured I'd help anyway. He handed me a huge bolt cutter, grabbed one end, and told me to push hard on the other. I gave it all I had, but there was NO way I could do it! So he finally took the cutter, sliced the metal lock and opened the gate. Once through it, he started taking unusually deep breaths, "Aaaahh. The air is SO fresh on this side of the fence! Smell that?" We laughed and joked around a while, until I saw a potted cactus with a beautiful bright pink flower right in the middle of our land. "What is that doing there?!" As I walked closer to take a look, Lorenzo started giving me some ridiculous reasons as to why such a cactus would be there (like, "maybe it's the neighbors, or probably aliens"), so I immediately knew it had to be him. The flower was so bright and beautiful, and when I looked up I saw another potted cactus, and then another, and another, and another! There was a whole trail of colorful cacti that led right to a juniper bush. As we dead ended abruptly into the bush, I started to get a funny feeling something very important was about to happen! Lorenzo came close, hugged me tight and said "I would like to spend the rest of my life with you". He pulled out a ring from his pocked and asked me to be his wife. Over the moon with joy & excitement I shouted, "YEESSS"!
