How they met

First comes school, then comes marriage

Jasmine and James first met in high school. He was at Serra and she at Carlmont. They shared a mutual friend, Rob Isom. Although there was no love connection at that time, little did they know this would eventually change... One April day in 2016 Rob ran into Jasmine and mentioned to her that James was a chef at Town. She said that couldn't be true. She insisted that she had never seen him there. Rob proceeds to explain that he was "the tall guy with the tattoos". While she immediately knew who he was talking about she was in complete shock that this person he described was James. She had seen him there over the years and did not recognize him! The next time she went to Town she walked up to the chefs counter and said hello. She was surprised that he recognized her. Over the next couple of months they would say hello to each other when she'd be at the restaurant. It wasn't until June 4, 2016 that they finally shared more than just a casual hello. He had finished his shift and was taking a break at one of the tables and she decided to go over and talk to him. They started talking sports and getting caught up on who they still kept in touch with. Jasmine suggested that they get together for lunch. Lots to catch up on! Two days later they were sitting at a table at Quinto Sol and before you knew it three hours had passed. They never skipped a beat. Because Jasmine didn't realize they were on a "date", she was surprised when James walked her to her car and bent over for a kiss. She was completely caught off guard and this is why they have both confirmed that this was the worst, most awkward first kiss they have ever had. However, as she drove off she started to wonder if this is something she should explore. She called the next day and invited him to a Giants game that same week. It was there that the sparks started to fly and the rest is history. Timing is everything and the universe brought them together at the perfect time.

The Proposal

Jan 28, 2020

Jasmine and James took a group trip to Cabo with friends in January 2020. They have a favorite restaurant in Cabo that they visit every time they go, Sunset Mona Lisa. Each couple planned an individual date night during the trip. This is when James planned to propose. However, things didn't happen how he had intended. In room 2208 at Casa Dorada, they were getting ready for their date night, listening to a random 90’s country station on Apple music. Jasmine was trying on different dresses and asking for James’ opinion. Her last option she announced from the other room was a “plain white dress”. James said, “lets see it”. As she was changing the next song came on. George Straight's “Check Yes or No”. He looked down at his watch and at 3:18 James knew this was right time to propose. As she turned the corner to show him what she was wearing he announced, “You’ll need a white dress if you want this” while he pulls the ring from behind his back. She was in shock! Pulling off a surprise on her is no easy fete! He then got down on one knee and asked her to be his wife followed by, "Check Yes or No?". Afterwards they called to share the news with family. To finish off the perfect day, they enjoyed a romantic dinner, overlooking the ocean with a gorgeous sunset and spent the rest of the night celebrating with friends!
