It all started at work, we were friends long before we were anything more. Technically, I was his boss (well… sort of, kind of), which made the idea of dating completely irrelevant. We always had an easy connection, the kind where laughter came naturally and conversations never seemed to end. Then came his birthday. A few of us from work were supposed to meet up and celebrate, but it turned out to be a lot of cancellations that just left me showing up and that night changed everything. After the laughs, smiles, and chef’s special wings the night ended. He texted to make sure I made it home safely, a small gesture that meant more than he probably realized. From that moment, the messages never really stopped. What started as friendly check-ins quickly turned into late-night conversations, inside jokes, and the feeling that maybe this was something special. Not long after, he asked me on our first date tacos at Maryland Live! Casino on March 21, 2023. It was simple, perfect, and somehow felt like the beginning of something we both had been waiting for. From coworkers to best friends, and now partners for life, our story is a reminder that love has a funny way of finding you exactly where you are.
April 27, 2025, started out like any other Sunday. He told me we were going to a birthday brunch for one of his friends, someone I hadn’t met yet so of course, I had to show up with a gift in hand, ready to make a good impression. When we got there, everything seemed totally normal… until it wasn’t. He mumbled something to the hostess and then led me towards a set of double doors. As I fumbled with my purse and coat the doors swung open and my family and friends were standing with cameras in hand. I was completely shocked and then, of course, I said yes! They had been hiding the whole time, waiting to celebrate with us. It was the most thoughtful, unforgettable moment and somehow, he pulled it all off without me suspecting a thing (even with the fake birthday and the gift in hand).
