Question

What should I wear? Is there a dress code?

Answer

The dress code for our wedding will be formal attire. We want to see our guests dress their best! We would also love (if you wanted to, or just to try something new) if you could wear Indian attire. For the ladies, this can include a saree (although I would not recommend wearing this if you haven't wore one before as it can be confusing to try to assemble on your own), a lengha, a lacha, or a churidar. For the men, this includes a sherwani. However, if you do not feel comfortable doing so, a suit and tie, tuxedo, formal gown, or floor-length gown is perfectly acceptable.

What will the weather be like this time of year?

Answer

September in New Jersey usually has temperatures around 70-80 degrees. There is a portion of the venue that includes an outdoor cocktail area and outdoor seating area so be sure to keep this in mind when picking your outfits! The pictures will be taken in this outdoor area.

Where are the ceremony and the reception taking place?

Answer

The wedding ceremony will be at St. Lucy's Roman Catholic Church located at: 118 7th Ave #1897, Newark, NJ 07104 beginning promptly at 10:00AM. Following the ceremony, guests will have a short break and then head to the venue at the Venetian, located at: 546 River Dr, Garfield, NJ 07026. Cocktail hour at the Venetian will begin at 12:00pm. There will be a parking lot area available at the Venetian. It is about a 20 minute drive between the ceremony location and the reception location.

Will the ceremony and reception be indoors or outdoors?

Answer

The ceremony and reception will be indoors. However, pictures at the ceremony will be outdoors and cocktail hour at the reception has an outdoor area for additional seating. The Venetian is beautiful so we encourage you to explore the outdoor area!

What happens after the ceremony?

Answer

After the ceremony, the bridal party and family will be taking pictures nearby for around an hour. Guests will have around an hour between when the ceremony is concluded and the reception cocktail hour begins. The time to get between the ceremony location and the reception location is only about 20 minutes, so please keep this in mind.

Does your wedding have a theme?

Answer

We do not have a theme! However, if you choose to wear an indian outfit, bright colors are best!

What should I do if I can’t make it?

Answer

You will be missed! If you can not make it to the wedding, please let us know as soon as possible and RSVP “no,” so we can plan accordingly.

What time should I arrive?

Answer

Because driving through Newark can be tough at times, we recommend guests arrive between 9:30am - 9:45am for the ceremony.

Where should guests park? Is parking free?

Answer

Guests can park in St. Lucy's parking lot for the ceremony. It is free. Guests can park at the Venetian as well, free as well.

Can I bring a date?

Answer

We have a strict guest list to stay on budget. Our wedding is strictly RSVP only. We will only able to accommodate those listed on your invitation.

Do you have a hotel block for guests? Where do you recommend I stay?

Answer

Yes. We have blocked off a handful of rooms at the Hampton Inn and Suites in Fairfield, NJ, located at: 118 US-46 East, Fairfield, NJ 07004. Just mention that you are booking for the Wilson-Schroedl wedding and they should be able to offer discounted rates for the room. They are also offering a free shuttle service between the hotel and the venue, so be sure to ask the front desk about that when arriving!

Will food and drinks be served at the reception? What kind of food?

Answer

Yes! There will be TONS of delicious food and drinks offered during cocktail hour. It is an open-bar! After cocktail hour is over, there is also a full course sit-down meal to follow, so don't fill up completely during cocktail hour!

Will there be an after party?

Answer

Yes! After the reception is over at 5PM, you will have time to return to the hotel before heading to the after party, which starts at 8PM at Tavern 517, in Garfield. There will be drinks, food, and dancing so please join us as we continue the celebration!
