We met at work… Jasmine’s onsite interview day to be exact. She was getting introduced to so many people that she is sorry to say Casey got lost in the mix. They attended Chevron Technical University together their first year at Chevron, where they got to know each other a little better. It wasn’t until the beginning of their second year at Chevron that they started dating. In fact, Casey invited Jasmine out to a little dive bar in El Segundo and somewhere between playing pool and sharing laughs, Blake Shelton’s “Austin” came on the jukebox. Jasmine knew there was something special about Casey when he began to sing “Austin” with her in the middle of the dive. And that song has been their song ever since.
The proposal happened intimately on a boat dock in Lake Havasu. The week before the trip, he purchased a little “Will You Marry Me” sign and smuggled the it and the engagement ring to Havasu (it wasn’t a very hard task, Casey plans and packs for lake trips). The day of the proposal he stealthily hung the sign up in the boat. While they walked down the stairs and along the boat dock, Casey realized that Jasmine had not seen the sign. He drew her attention to the sign in the most subtle of ways that only Casey can… “Babe can you read what the boat says?”. She knew that he had the ring and that he would most likely propose in Havsau, but she didn’t think it would be that weekend. She placed the stuff she was carrying on the dock and when she turned Casey was down on one knee. Having been taken by surprise and being worried that one of them would drop the ring into the water, she got flustered and didn’t quite say “yes”. It wasn’t until they were both sitting in the back seat of the boat that Casey asked “so was that a yes?” and Jasmine replied “yes, it was a yes”.
