It was the fall of 2018, I was living in Boston, and Tyler was a pilot based out of San Diego when we met through Mutual.. (eyes roll all over the place). Funniest thing is, I did not want to date anyone more than 50 miles from me, and we matched when Tyler was in town for a work trip. We started talking and by the time I realized he lived on the other side of the country- my resolution to date someone local was thoroughly shattered. After talking over the phone for several weeks, we met in person for the first time in October 2018. I remember seeing him for the first time, and just being overwhelmed by a desire to hug him... so I ran up to him and did just that. Pretty sure I freaked him out a bit by that display haha We talked for hours everyday, and saw each other every month as our busy schedules allowed. I remember in December 2018, we realized we could only meet for three days that weekend.. so I flew out on a flight the VERY next day and we spent a very short two days together. Tyler and I had a lot of ups and a lot of downs. Dating from so far away was very difficult at times, and we broke up twice. When we talked about these times, we agreed that those days apart were hard for both for us. The 2020 COVID-19 pandemic brought us an opportunity to spend time in the same city. I was given the chance to work remotely, and Tyler's work was very slow which kept him in San Diego. During my time in San Diego, we were able to put a name to our feelings for each other and receive spiritual confirmation that this was a good thing for both of us. After that it was as if milestones were rushing to us to make up for the two years of us dating without reaching them! Tyler told me he loved me, the butterflies in my stomach were unbelievable, and I confessed that I felt the same. We decided that we wanted to spend our lives, and eternity together. A ring was purchased, very slyly, and he proposed marriage and here we are <3
