11.20.13 Introduced 03.12.14 First Date 02.23.19 Engaged 05.22.21 Saying "I DO"

We worked together at an after school program. He was very shy and wouldn’t say much to me other than “hello”. After working together for awhile, the kids at the after school program started to notice that he would look for me, and began to tease him about it. They would say "Ooh coach Juan likes coach Jaz" but didn’t think much of it. All employees at the company had to attend and participate in a work training. In one of the exercises employees had to quickly interlock hands with someone near you at the count of three to get a team work activity going. Juan and I interlocked hands automatically after the countdown. We knew then that we were both just as interested in each other. Later that afternoon, Juan figured out my number from a group text message that we had with co-workers. He had everyone's number saved but mine. After texting each other for a couple of days he soon asked me out on a date. He was such a gentleman, he opened and closed the car door for me and hasn't failed to do so ever since. We had breakfast at a small restaurant, had great conversations and laughs. We didn't want to go home after our date and genuinely wanted to spend more time with each other , we booth felt then that we wanted to be more than just co-workers and friends.

To celebrate Valentine’s Day we decided to go one of our favorite places, Valle de Guadalupe. I was out of town for work Valentine's Day so we celebrated a little late. We ate delicious food all day and had amazing wine tasting experience throughout the wine country. Came dinner time and he had made a reservation for us at a small, intimate vineyard. He had a 5 course meal prepared for us accompanied with a bottle of wine and roses. I had no clue, that day was going to be THE day. All I knew was that we were celebrating Valentine's Day. Once dinner was over we headed back to our room, and as we entered the room it was pitch black. I entered first to turn on the lights in the room. As I turned back the room was decorated with red rose petals on the floor and Juan kneeling down on one knee. I covered my face in shock as he said to me " I love you, and I want to spend the rest of my life with you."
