Our journey began in 2021, during our freshman year of college. Ja’Shanti was 18 and Dennis was 19, and neither of us had any idea what was coming. One day, Ja’Shanti and a few friends were driving around campus looking for something fun to do when they spotted Dennis jogging. Instead of simply pointing them in the right direction, he decided to run alongside the car and personally guide them all the way there. In that moment, Ja’Shanti thought, Okay… this guy might be a little special. And she was right. A little while later, fate and a group of friends brought us together again for a casual night that quickly turned into a game of truth or dare. What Dennis did not know was that Ja’Shanti and her friend had already made a plan. She would pick “dare” and her friend would dare her to kiss him. One kiss later, the plan definitely worked. We exchanged numbers and met up the very next day. What was supposed to be a quick hangout turned into twelve straight hours from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. talking, laughing, and realizing how easy it felt to be together. Four years later, we are still choosing each other every day and now we share our biggest blessing, our beautiful daughter, who has brought even more love and fun into our story. Now we cannot wait to celebrate the next chapter with all of you.
