When should I arrive in Bali?

Celebrations begin with the welcome dinner on Thursday August 28th, however, we recommend guests to either arrive a few days prior or to spend a few days in another transit city in Asia (e.g. Hong Kong, Singapore) to adjust to the time difference.

Where will wedding celebrations be held?
Answer
All events will be held at the Soori Bali, see schedule of events on invitation and on printed room schedule. If needed golf carts are available for request for transportation from villa to event venue.

Where should I stay?
Answer
We strongly recommend booking a room at the hotel where all of the wedding festivities will be held-- the Soori, as it is situated in a more remote area of the island. While there are nearby Airbnbs, transportation to and from the venue can be unpredictable, and we cannot vouch for the quality of other accommodations. Hotels in other areas of Bali, such as Seminyak or Kuta, are at least an hour away from The Soori.

How do I book a room at the Soori?

The Soori will be reserved exclusively for wedding guests from August 28–31 (Thursday to Sunday). To secure your room, please email Rashmi Singh at rsvp@varawedding.com. After selecting your room type (see below for options) with Rashmi, you will receive a payment link for a discounted hotel rate directly from The Soori. - The rate for a 1 Bedroom Mountain View Villa is $480/evening, net total. - The rate for a 1 Bedroom Ocean View/Beach View Villa is $520/evening, net total. - The rate for a 4 Bedroom Villa are $560/evening for the Master Bedroom and $440/evening for the other bedrooms. We strongly recommend booking a room at the hotel, as it is situated in a more remote area of the island. Do you need a visa to visit Bali?

Yes. We highly recommend to complete the visa application before arrival, as the internet access is spotty at the airport and there are typically long lines! There is roughly a 500,000 IDR fee associated with it (~USD $30-$35) Please apply for the visa at the link here: https://evisa.imigrasi.go.id/ If you are unable to apply for a visa beforehand, there is a visa upon arrival option, which is oftentimes congested. You must have an ordinary (non-emergency) passport with at least 6 months of validity from the date you plan to enter and the date you plan to leave Indonesia and a return or onward flight booking to another country. There is a 500,000 Indonesian Rupiah fee (about $30-$35). Again, we do emphasize on applying for the visa beforehand, as there are varying levels of inefficiencies at the airport that could cause unexpected delays.

What should I know about booking flights from the USA to Bali?
Answer
Flights from the USA to Bali typically require at least one layover. From major airports like New York (JFK) and Los Angeles (LAX), you can expect a flight duration of about 20 to 24 hours, including layover time. There are no direct flights to Bali, so connecting flights are common, with popular layover cities including Dubai, Singapore, and Hong Kong. We recommend considering a stopover in one of these cities to break up the long journey and adjust to the time zone. If possible, taking an extended layover or a brief Asian tour prior to heading to Bali can help you adjust to the time change and make your arrival more comfortable. Bali is 12 to 15 hours ahead of the US, depending on your departure city, so prepare for a significant time difference.

How far is the airport from the Soori?
Answer
The travel time from Ngurah Rai International Airport to the Soori is between 90 minutes to 2 hours, traffic dependent. Please allocate time for travel, as well as customs and luggage retrieval--for our New Yorkers efficiency is comparable to JFK.

How is the airport in Bali?
Answer
Be prepared for longer wait times at immigration and bag retrieval. It is not the most efficiently run operation and all passengers in general are at the mercy of how well staffed the airport happens to be on that day. From start to finish (disembarking from the airplane to getting on transportation) could take well upwards of 2 hours. Technology is also fickle, so make sure you apply for a visa ahead of time and also secure a local e-SIM card/WiFi router ahead of time.

Is there transportation to the hotel?

Yes, complimentary transportation is provided to all guests from the airport to the Soori property. However, travel details must be provided and transportation must be arranged as scheduled.

In August, Bali typically experiences warm and sunny weather with average temperatures ranging from 24°C (75°F) to 30°C (86°F). August is considered to be one of the best months to visit Bali as it is the dry season with lower humidity levels, minimal rainfall, and approximately 10-11 hours of sunlight.

What are the food options at the Soori?

Breakfast is included and will be served at all of three of the resort's dining locations- Cotta, Ombak and the Reading Room. Lunch and dinner will be served starting from the Welcome dinner on August 28th to the Beach party lunch on August 31st. Minibar and room service options available as requested.

Is there time to sightsee during the wedding weekend?

During the 4-day wedding weekend at the Soori, expect a plethora of events; being a unique yet remote property, we highly recommend indulging in the property's amenities , such as the gym, spa, pools, beach and on-site cultural experiences. We recommend exploring the island either before or after the wedding festivities.
