we're getting married!

Hannah and Jarrett met during Jarrett’s freshman year at OSU and Hannah’s senior year of high school, when mutual friends were actually trying to set them up! Nothing really came out of them meeting at that point, but looking at it now, it was the perfect example of right person, wrong time! Throughout college, Hannah and Jarrett would talk briefly whenever they saw each other in passing, they were members of the same church and both volunteered with KLIFE. Despite seeing each other often, they were never good friends. However, their friendship changed over winter break of Jarrett’s senior year and Hannah’s junior year. They were both at the same wedding, when Jarrett came up to say hi to Hannah. Having not been close friends, the last thing Hannah expected was for Jarrett Smith- the boy she had known for years- to give her a hug and complement her new haircut! Jarrett was also kind of shocked that he had just hugged and complimented Hannah right away, it being kind of out of character for him. In that moment though, something had forever changed in the way that Jarrett saw Hannah. Over the next few weeks Jarrett found himself continually thinking about Hannah. They had gone back to school for the semester, and about a month after that, to Jarrett’s luck, he and Hannah were both going to the same KLIFE retreat. They spent most of the weekend together, hanging out in the same group- probably pretty intentional on Jarrett’s part haha! Throughout the weekend, Hannah had really tried to not think much about the possibility of Jarrett liking her- not wanting to get her hopes up or get too far ahead of herself. But it all changed the last night of the retreat when just them two played cards and talked for hours. Hannah very quickly realised Jarrett’s intentionality in their conversation, as he had remembered so much about her life, and genuinely wanted to know more about her. She thought it was crazy, but after that night she knew she liked Jarrett! And similarly, after that weekend, Jarrett had fallen for her. The next few weeks consisted of Jarrett trying to find any excuse to talk to Hannah. A few weeks later, he eventually worked up the courage to ask her on a date, and she was excited to say yes! They went on a date the next day, and over the following few weeks continued to do so. Even though they had known each other for so long, there was still a lot that they didn’t know about each other. Those first few dates, they learned more about each other's pasts, passions, dreams, desires, personalities, their walks with the Lord, and how they interact now that they were much more than friends for the first time :) They started dating on February 28th, 2024 and over the course of the next few months of dating, it became increasingly clear to Jarrett that Hannah was the girl he wanted to marry. In August, Jarrett moved to Kansas City to attend seminary and Hannah was finishing her last semester of college. At that point they started to do long distance, which meant long car rides and weekend visits. While long distance has its own challenges, it ultimately strengthened their relationship and emphasized how much they meant to each other. One weekend in September, when Hannah was visiting KC, they had their first real conversation about marriage. They both talked about what they had in mind for an ideal timeline, and Hannah told Jarrett that she wanted to be dating for at least a year before he proposed. While Hannah didn’t know it at the time, she had just hand picked out the exact day she would get engaged! On February 28th, 2025, exactly one year after they started dating, Jarrett complied to Hannah’s request of dating for one year, and asked her to marry him! While they would have never guessed it, the Lord providentially brought together Jarrett and Hannah four years after they met in Stillwater, OK. The Lord’s faithfulness has been evident through his kindness in giving Jarrett and Hannah the gift of marriage. Let’s get married!
