HIS VERSION: Welp, it’s hard to say when it all started. We original met in college through the fires of Greek life… We were just friends then but was lucky enough to have Kara as my pledge mom (Greek thing) Fast forward a couple years… After college I moved to Miami to sell beer (the best beer, Miller and Coors)I was taking some off work (against my will, lol) - visiting the family back in Midland, Michigan. I was planning to meet my pledge dad’s Loren and Twan on their way up north not knowing where they were going for a quick bevvie and catch up. This is where the stars align… I download tinder, that day I happened to see Kara on tinder and immediately texted her and said “why the hell are you on tinder”, and the chit chatting began. AKA she was flirting with me. So, when I was talking with her, she told me she was having some friends to her family cottage from her pledge class, then it hit me! Thats why Loren and Twan were headed up north! Mind you this is still the same day I just downloaded tinder. Somehow Kara slipped me a low-key invite to the event and next thing you know I was at her cottage. I made sure to say hi to Kara absolutely last to let her know I meant business. When I finally made it around to her I gave her a hug and we clicked. Now almost 5 years later, I’m sitting next to her on a couch with two dogs. The end. Jk - That day we teamed up for some beer pong and corn hole and didn’t lose a single game. After the weekend I stayed to help clean up. We drove home from the cottage and that day or the next we immediately drove back up… Some would say its fate, well it was. I then went to her house and we were attached at the hip (or near the hip) for a whole month. Kara stole my heart and refuses to give it back.. Long story short I turned down a job in Florida and moved back up to Michigan. We live on a lake and I couldn’t be happier the butterfly effect kicked in and sent me up north! HER VERSION: Jarred and I met back at Olivet College through our Greek houses. At the time, it was as simple as choosing a “pledge kid”, but little did I know that one choice would lead me to my (eventual) soulmate. At Olivet, Jarred and I didn’t spend much time together. But that all changed in 2020 with a dating app and “cuz I’m single and ready to mingle” (actual text from Jarred). I still remember sitting on the couch up north at my family cabin when a random text from Jarred came in, we hadn’t talked in years. He had saw my profile on Tinder and texted me (he clearly was too eager to wait for me to respond on the app). After some small talk he discovered that I was having a party up north and in Jarred like fashion, started to fish for an invite. I of course, played it cool. Even when Jarred arrived and decided to hug EVERY SINGLE person at the party before acknowledging my existence (many of which will be standing by our side on our big day!). It started as “swing by for a night” to an inseparable weekend, which quickly escalated to us going our separate ways for less than 24 hours that Monday before we drove back up north. After many games of 20 questions, meals cooked together, boat rides, fish caught (and licked by Grizzly) I knew that Jarred was my person… There was just one small obstacle in the way. He was planning to accept a job offer outside of Michigan. For the next few weeks I blasted out his resume to every (and I do mean every) company in Michigan who was hiring a sales rep. Shortly later, Jarred landed a job in Michigan (with the help of me of course). Now we sit here, snuggled up on the couch with Grizzly & Luna, tackling life together and celebrating every (little & big) success together. All because of a simple choice, a dating app and him crashing a party.
