How We Met

Our story started as most do nowadays: with a swipe on Hinge. We began talking in the Spring of 2022, and the connection was instant. From conversations about spicy margaritas to languages of love, future plans and dreams, and everything in between, it just felt so natural. It was not long after this that we had our first date planned at El Barrio. We learned a lot about each other on that first date. Jarred learned how clumsy Brooke is when she dropped her entire plate of plantains, and then proceeded to leave the rest of her leftovers on the back of a random person’s car when we were talking after our meal… clearly she was more focused on where to go to keep the date going. This brought us to what quickly became one of our favorite places, Neshaminy Creek Brewing. Brooke learned about Jarred’s favorite musical genre: heavy metal, which was almost a dealbreaker. Luckily, though, she toughed it out, and learned to live with this often reviled genre of music, and even attends concerts with him today, but often more so for people watching instead of the music. From there, it was clear a genuine connection was blossoming quickly! Both of us were put to the ultimate test: meeting each other’s families soon after. Brooke met Jarred’s Aunt Joni and Uncle Steve, and it was evident she passed with flying colors, since a mere two hours after the first dinner, she was already being invited to his cousin Stefanie and Jeremy’s wedding. She would later go on to earn flying colors by driving back the bride and groom to the hotel after the reception. Jarred was thrown into the deep end over a family dinner at Charcoal in Yardley, where he impressed Brooke’s toughest critics-her siblings-by making a joke about corgis. He also earned another accolade: being approved by Maisie and May. Maisie even wound up giving Jarred one of her toys, which under normal circumstances, would wound up costing someone a finger had they tried to take one from her.

Our Story

In June, we made things official, and still to this day, have no clue what exact day our relationship officially started. Regardless, though, the two of us making things official began an endless stream of memories. In our first year, we did so much! We travelled to Long Beach Island to visit Aunt Kel and Aunt Jo, went to Atlantic City to see Tom Segura, stayed with Brittany and Nate in Chicago for a freezing showdown between the Bears and Eagles, experienced the craziness of Uncle Porky’s annual pool party (if you know, if you know), visiting Aunt Debbie and Uncle Jimmy in North Carolina, spent our first holidays and birthdays together, weddings, Brooke’s first metal show ever, shared a ton of great meals, and even more laughs. After our first year together, Jarred was faced with a tough choice of possibly having to move or looking for a new roommate. However, it became obvious that there was a perfect roommate standing right in front of him: Brooke. Some may have said that it was a bit quick to be moving in after only a year of dating, but to the two of us, it felt like the perfect situation with no regrets… even if Brooke leaves her shoes all over the apartment. She helped to turn Jarred’s bachelor pad into a place that felt like home, with plants and pictures galore, and Jarred loved every second of it. It was also during this time where Brooke faced a critical juncture about what she wanted to do with her life and career. With Jarred’s support, she took the leap and started a brand new career in special education and to this day, is still at the same place and is absolutely thriving. It’s the moments like these behind the scenes where many do not get to see what has made and continues to make this relationship special. The two of us have continued day in and day out to uplift each other when we are at our lows, and praise each other like no other when we are at our all time highs. Not every moment has been easy, but we have continued to find this balance and remain each other’s biggest cheerleaders. And through all of this, there continued to be a well spring of memories. Greg and Emily’s wedding in Kentucky was a blast, with ample amounts of Skyline Chili and photographs to last a lifetime. Brooke got to see Jarred rock out with his beloved Stereotytans at their comeback Bacchanal show. Caroline’s annual walk, a Halloween where we dressed as each other, cousin’s weekend with Jarred’s “sister cousins” (again, if you know, you know), more holidays, our first couple’s getaway to Atlantic City to see some lousy comedy but eat great food, celebrating St. Paddy’s Day at the Green Parrot, Jarred earning is masters degree, Brooke whacking Jarred in the head with an axe, more weddings, Memorial Day weekend at the Cove, and of course, another anniversary! It was at this anniversary where we both realized how unhappy we were living in Willow Grove, and decided to downsize a bit to move to an area that had quickly become a love of ours: Bristol. Moving to Bristol was like a homecoming of sorts, with both of our fathers having been born and raised around this area. Plus, we would be much closer to both of our families, and it just felt like the right thing to do. Willow Grove was a place we lived in, but Bristol was truly home for the both of us. If we each had a dollar for every time we mentioned Mill Street to someone, we’d have enough for a second wedding! Once we moved to Bristol, we really and truly began to think deeply about our future.

The Engagement

After another year of holidays, weddings, traveling, and more amazing memories, it was clear to both of us as well as our loved ones that marriage was in our future. It was a matter of when, not if. So, in the Spring and Summer of 2025, Jarred began to concoct plans for how he was going to ask Brooke the big question. He had casual conversations about what Brooke wanted in a ring, and with the help of Chris, he was able to create Brooke the ring of her dreams. With the blessings of both of our families, and the help of Tom and Alexa, Jarred surprised Brooke with the question on one very hot August afternoon at Neshaminy Creek Brewing, where it all began after Brooke dropped her plantains. She was beyond surprised and of course said yes, but not after saying “What the hell?!” when presented with the ring. And now, that leads us to here: the next unwritten chapter. We’ve spent an ample amount of time crafting our story, through more than three years of memories and experiences. Our story has been one of so many awesome and amazing memories, and yet, we both know the best is yet to come. We’re both beyond honored and excited that each and every one of you will be able to help us create the best chapter yet: our wedding. So, grab your dancing shoes, your caffeine, and get ready to celebrate with us this New Year’s Eve!
