This lady, Christine Conroy, started visiting my church in November 2019, but it wouldn't be until July 15th, 2020, that I reached out. I was bummed to find out that she was dating someone at the time, but then she was single a month later, and we would go on our first date, September 8th, 2020. I realized as we continued to get to know each other that I had found "a diamond in the rough." Getting to worship, serve, and pray together created such a beautiful dynamic between us. I could tell how much she loved Jesus Christ, and it made me fall deeper in love with her heart. I looked back to that day we had our first date and realized this relationship was going to be special for a long time. I knew I couldn't go without asking for her hand in marriage because I would have been foolish. Now we are on our way, and I can say I have an amazing woman I truly cherish.
May 14, 2022 was a normal Saturday as far as I was concerned. Sure, Jarod had taken the day off work to spend the day together and my mom had taken me to get my nails done for my birthday the week prior and my sister had texted me that morning convincing me that I should dress up for a family dinner later that evening, but I was as oblivious as I could be. We went to a movie and made a few stops. Jarod wanted to walk around Marietta Square before dinner with my family - all normal things to me. We got to the square and began walking. Since there were no specific plans, I figured we would be taking a leisurely stroll, but I was having to sprint to keep up with Jarod. I was a little confused until I saw the flower petals on the ground in front of the gazebo and then I caught a glimpse of a few family members hiding around nearby. Jarod handed me a letter to read and asked me to turn around. I began reading, but I knew what was coming, so I was definitely speed reading. I finished the sentimental letter and turned around to say yes. The rest of the night was a blur but so much fun getting to celebrate with both of our families. It felt like just the beginning of something new and wonderful.
