Tania and Jared first met when they were in highschool through mutual friends at church. Multiple people told Tania that there was a guy named Jared that she would really get along with. Tania was suspicious of that at first, as she is with many things. The first time that Tania noticed Jared, she thought to herself that it almost seemed like there was a spotlight on him, and thought “If this was a movie, that guy would be a main character.” She was surprised to feel so strongly that even though she didn’t know him yet, he would be important to her one day. The first time Jared noticed Tania was at a powder puff football game. She was sitting with someone that he knew. Tania ended up making him laugh so much that when he left, he made a point to tell their mutual friend “Hey, I like your friend!” Even though they didn’t admit that they liked each other to themselves or others, they found each other at every event they could, and spent the entire time talking and laughing. They messaged each other on Facebook almost every night. Tania did not expect to meet someone and start dating at age 15. She thought it was a little early to be dating, and neither of them had drivers licenses! She told Jared that she wanted to wait and just be friends for a while, while they both worked on themselves (learning to drive, getting a job, going through puberty etc). They agreed to focus on their friendship for a while. After their conversation, Jared set his calendar, marking every day until he could take his driving test. On the day that he got his license, he showed up at Tania’s front door and asked her on a date. He knew that Tania was cautious and liked to take things slow, but Jared was very serious about her and knew right away that she was the one. At 17, he began tucking away money from every paycheck for a ring. They went on dates and had fun times with their friends. They graduated high school and often dreamed of their future together. Next, they went to Citrus College. During that time, they only had one class in common, “Art History: Medieval Architecture”. This was probably for the best; because Tania realized at this moment how much of a “nerd” Jared was. She was glad to have a class with him because she has always loved Jared’s genuine curiosity and desire to learn. She also appreciated that when the professor asked questions he was often the only one who would raise his hand and participate. Tania was grateful that Jared was in the class and had always done the reading, because Tania had a hard time remembering the difference between a squinch and a pendentive. (Answer in FAQ) Tania transferred to Cal Poly Pomona and Jared went to Cal State LA. Even though they didn’t go to school together anymore, they were each other's greatest support. They spent entire days studying, devised systems to “catch” each other when they got distracted, and became regulars at many coffee shops. Tania and Jared graduated college, started their careers, and started traveling together. Every trip they have ever taken they considered “the trip of a lifetime”. They loved each home that they lived in, and began to establish traditions. Every October, they would crack out their pumpkin shaped pot and make meals together. On cold and rainy days, they push their couches together to make “megacouch” and cuddle while they watch movies. Today, you can find Jared and Tania sitting on the front porch of their home with their cats, talking about how insignificant they are in the grand scheme of things. They like to call themselves “two specks on a speck of a planet”. They oscillate between that, and marveling at the miracle it is that they get to exist at the same time, that they found one another, and that they have been able to love each other for so long. They don’t take any of the 15 years together for granted. Although it feels like they’ve already lived an entire lifetime together, they are thrilled to enter a new era and be married.
